Critical Music

Drum ‘n’ Bass record label Critical Music approached me to design their 15th anniversary logo for their birthday celebrations. The early logotype ideas all started in hand-drawn form, which were developed into a monotone stripped-back clean logotype which appeared on merchandise, website, banners, record sleeves and clubnight events in the forthcoming year. This then developed into a bright colourway for their summer events.

The limited edition boxset is printed on spot varnished bespoke made card box, housing 5 piece 12 inch vinyl in individual printed disco sleeves, alongside the vinyl is a 4 page pull out booklet, A3 poster and download card.

Photos of print and web assets designed for Critical Music’s ‘Critical Sound’ clubnight, which included social media and web graphics, large scale posters, light boxes, and limited edition screen printed Gildan ultra heavy cotton t-shirts.
The logotype was inspired by cymatics and vibrating sounds. The backgrounds were made from found paper stocks, torn up, scanned in and warped in Photoshop, a nod to the labels DIY aesthetics, identity and values.
